Many pregnant women in Indonesia experiences a lack of protein and micronutrients that can affect the growth and development of the fetus as well as the mother's health. Results of a study conducted by Sarihusada with Southeast Asian Food and Agricultural Science & Technology Center (SEAFAST) in Bogor (2011) found that as many as 1 in 4 women of childbearing age lack protein and multi-micronutrient intake, 6 of 10 pregnant women have protein intake and several micronutrients that are too low, and 1 in 3 breastfeeding women suffer from protein deficiency and multiple micronutrient intake.
